Department of Addiction Treatment

Our department offers outpatient help, counselling and treatment to people at risk of addiction to alcohol, drugs, pathological gambling and gambling.

We see addiction as the "tip of the iceberg"; it is usually not just a problem with a particular addictive substance. Thus, to address the problem situation, it is important to see the relational context of the client's life. The client's willingness to take responsibility for their life story and way of life is essential for success.

Who we help:

  • Clients aged 18 and over.
  • People who are at risk of addiction to alcohol, drugs or pathological gambling.
  • People who are not satisfied with their current lifestyle and are willing to make a change in their lives.
  • Partners, parents or relatives of addicted people (those not in the care of DPS).

Mgr. Karolína Svobodová

/ Adictologist
  • She graduated from the Bachelor's and Master's degree in Addictionology at the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University.
  • She has been working as an addictologist at the Department of Addiction Treatment in DPS Ondřejov since July 2024.
  • From 2021 to 2024 she worked as an adicto-logist in a psychiatric outpatient clinic with extended care for adicto-logical patients. During her studies, she worked as a trainer in primary prevention of risky behaviour, where she was involved in the development and implementation of programmes for children and adolescents.
  • Since 2023 she has been a participant of the psychodynamic psychotherapy training organized by the Prague College of Psychosocial Studies. She is enrolled in the specialisation training of Clinical Addictionology.
