Department of Addiction Treatment

Our department offers outpatient help, counselling and treatment to people at risk of addiction to alcohol, drugs, pathological gambling and gambling.

We see addiction as the "tip of the iceberg"; it is usually not just a problem with a particular addictive substance. Thus, to address the problem situation, it is important to see the relational context of the client's life. The client's willingness to take responsibility for their life story and way of life is essential for success.

Who we help:

  • Clients aged 18 and over.
  • People who are at risk of addiction to alcohol, drugs or pathological gambling.
  • People who are not satisfied with their current lifestyle and are willing to make a change in their lives.
  • Partners, parents or relatives of addicted people (those not in the care of DPS).

Mgr. Dan Ullwer

/ Head of Addiction Treatment
  • He has been working in the field of addictionology since 2008.
  • He graduated with a bachelor's degree and then a master's degree in adictology at the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University.
  • He gained his experience in the field gradually, starting as a contact and counselling worker for drug addicts at the K-Centre in Děčín, then at the Adiktology outpatient clinic in Ústí nad Labem and since June 2017 he has been working as the head of the addiction department at the Day Psychotherapy Sanatorium "Ondřejov". He has also gained significant life and work experience as an employee of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic.
  • In 2014 - 2019 he completed self-experience training in psychodynamic and depth-oriented psychotherapy SUR - KUS in the scope of 575 hours.
  • His professional interest is addiction treatment, he is also interested in rites of passage and how these rites of passage can be used in addiction treatment.
  • His interests include travel and hiking, family and friends, sports and music.
