Department of Addiction Treatment

Our department offers outpatient help, counselling and treatment to people at risk of addiction to alcohol, drugs, pathological gambling and gambling.

We see addiction as the "tip of the iceberg"; it is usually not just a problem with a particular addictive substance. Thus, to address the problem situation, it is important to see the relational context of the client's life. The client's willingness to take responsibility for their life story and way of life is essential for success.

Who we help:

  • Clients aged 18 and over.
  • People who are at risk of addiction to alcohol, drugs or pathological gambling.
  • People who are not satisfied with their current lifestyle and are willing to make a change in their lives.
  • Partners, parents or relatives of addicted people (those not in the care of DPS).

Mgr. et Bc. Kristýna Horáková

/ Psychologist
  • She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Art Therapy at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Subsequently, she continued her studies at Palacký University in Olomouc, where she obtained a Master's degree in Psychology. During her studies, she completed several internships in various institutions dedicated to mental health care for both adults and children.
  • In 2024, she worked as a cotherapist at the Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Clinic ESET, where she worked in a day hospital with patients with psychotic illness.
  • As part of her specialisation training, she completed the Psychologist in Healthcare course and the Basic Crisis Intervention course.
  • Since October 2024, she has been working as part of the team in the Addiction Treatment Unit. Since the beginning of 2025 she has been enrolled in preceptorship training in Clinical Psychology.
  • She has been a trainee in the psychotherapy training SUR since 2025. She works under regular supervision.
  • In her free time she enjoys sports, reading, artistic activities and spending time with family and friends.
