During the two days, experts from DPS Ondřejov, the Mental Rehabilitation Centre, the Central Military Hospital, the National Institute of Mental Health and ESET, and the Psychotherapeutic and Psychosomatic Clinic spoke. The programme offered lectures, sharing of experiences and two practical workshops focused on the therapeutic programmes of DPS Ondřejov.
In his opening speech, the chief physician of the DPS Ondřejov, Michal Risler, MD, emphasised that working with the family is an integral part of modern psychiatric care . We need to work with the family and loved ones as early as possible and try to channel their influence so that we are on the same page with the family and can work together on the patient."
This idea was continued by the head psychologist of DPS Ondřejov Mgr. "The family and loved ones can influence how the treatment will continue to develop by supporting and motivating the patient. At the same time, mental illness is a great burden on the entire family system, which is why we offer our patients' relatives the Líska support program."
The conference offered a wide range of topics - from communication with the family during the first hospitalization, to family therapy in residential treatment, to working with the family in psychosocial rehabilitation. The presentations of the Lípa and Líska programmes also attracted great interest.
The second day was dedicated to workshops focused on the therapeutic programmes of the DPS Ondřejov. Participants had the opportunity to look into specific methods of work, discuss case studies and share their own experiences.
We would like to thank all the speakers and participants for the open discussion, sharing of professional experience and inspiration for further development of care for people with mental illness. We are pleased that the Ondřejovská conference remains a place where practice, interdisciplinary cooperation and the human dimension of care are connected.
