Walnut - metacognitive training

The programme is primarily for people with experience of psychotic illness, and if capacity is available, for people with other serious mental illness.

The goal of the program is to learn in a playful way how to work effectively with one's own thoughts and beliefs, recognize depressive and other thinking patterns, understand emotions in oneself and others, and use critical thinking skills.

The program was originally designed specifically to treat symptoms of psychosis (especially delusions) and later adapted for other mental illnesses. It focuses particularly on problematic thinking styles (cognitive biases) associated with the development and maintenance of so-called positive symptoms, such as overconfidence in mistakes and jumping to conclusions.
